🐿 Inspiration Behind Satoshi

The heart of this series began right at home. My wife has always loved squirrels, and we have a tree in our yard with a little squirrel feeding bench attached to it. Every day, she places peanuts there, and over time, the squirrels have grown so comfortable that a few will even come right up to her for a treat.

Watching those squirrels became a source of joy and inspiration. They’re curious, clever, and persistent — always finding creative ways to gather what they need. As I began thinking about how to explain the big ideas behind Bitcoin in a way that was fun and approachable, it only felt natural to imagine a squirrel as the main character.

That’s how Satoshi the Squirrel was born. He’s a reflection of the squirrels that bring so much happiness to our family — curious, brave, and just a little bit mischievous — with lessons to share for children and adults alike.

👨‍👦 A Story for My Grandson

Alongside my love of technology, I wanted to create something lasting — a way to share that passion in a fun, meaningful way with my grandson, Maverick. He’s our first grandchild, and The Adventures of Satoshi the Squirrel became more than just a creative project; it became a bridge between generations.

Through these stories, I hope to spark his imagination, encourage curiosity, and give us something special to bond over — adventures we can share together now, and lessons he can carry with him as he grows.

In many ways, Maverick is the reason these books exist. The series is dedicated not only to him, but to every child and family who wants to explore the magic of stories that teach, inspire, and connect us.

🌲 Book 1: The Tree of Blocks

Satoshi discovers a magical tree deep in the forest. Each glowing ring inside the tree holds the history of time, stacked one after another, impossible to erase.
Through his journey, Satoshi learns that just as the tree’s rings keep the forest’s memory, Bitcoin’s blockchain keeps track of every block in time.

Satoshi the Squirrel returns in The Lantern of Hashrate — a tale of teamwork and hope. When the crows bring shadows to the forest, Satoshi learns that one lantern is not enough. With the help of a wise old Badger and his loyal friends, he discovers the Lantern of Hashrate: a glowing beacon made from many lights shining together.

⚡Book 3: The Great Halving

When a glowing treasure chest suddenly cracks in half, Satoshi and his friends rush to understand what it means.  The Great Halving is a warm, imaginative story that introduces the idea of Bitcoin halving through the soft glow of magical acorns, a wise tortoise, and a curious young squirrel. Written as a gentle forest fable, this book helps children (and grown-ups!) understand how treasure can become more special when it becomes more scarce.
